After graduating from the University of California, Irvine, and later earning his Master's in Healthcare Administration from the University of La Verne, he began his journey at the FDA in 1998, following early work in bioresearch on medical devices and drug applications.

Over the course of his career, he rose through a series of senior leadership roles, including Microbiologist, Import Compliance Officer, Director of Import Operations in Los Angeles, and Division Director of West Coast Imports, leading to his appointment as Assistant Commissioner for Import Operations in 2022, a position he held until his retirement in March 2026.
